One of the Major Problem every Blogspot Blogger users have is whenever they try to change their templates, They loss their widgets even if they take backup of their template. BloGTK is a software/application that allows you to easily blog from the comfort of your own desktop. “But wait!”, you say, “I can blog already from my desktop, with the help of my browser.” Yes you can. But with BloGTK you can blog offline, save drafts, have multiple accounts, and you don't need to open a browser and and and much more. So, let’s take a look at how you can start using BloGTK as your desktop blogging system.
Installing BloGTK
Before we get into connecting to your blog we have to install the application first. This is very simple. You can install BloGTK from the command line with a command such as:
sudo apt-get install blogtk
or
yum install blogtk
Or you can open up your Add/Remove Software utility, search for “blogtk” (without quotes), select the resulting entry, and click Apply to install.
Once BloGTK is installed you will find the menu entry in the Internet submenu of your Applications or Main menu.
Making the connection
BloGTK doesn’t offer as many connection types as some of the other tools. But it does connect to:

MoveableType
MetaWeblog API
As of the current release (ver 1.1) BloGTK doesn’t handle the MetaWeblog API well so it does'nt support Drupal, Wordpress etc. yet. So for the purposes of this article I will show you how to connect to a Blogger account with this software.
The very first thing you have to do is go to the Edit menu and select the Accounts and Settings entry. When this new window opens.Notice the Server URL. For Blogger this is the exact URL you need to use to connect. Other than that you will enter the username and password for your Blogger account and make sure Blogger is selected from the list of Blogging Systems.
Once you have this done click Save and then click OK.
You should notice, at the bottom of the main BloGTK window (See Picture Below) the instructions telling you to use File/Connect to connect (or re-connect) to your server.You do not have to connect to the server right away. You can create your blog entry first and then connect to the server and post your entry. Or you can create an entry and save as draft for later posting.
To save an entry you go about creating and, when you are ready to save, click the File menu and select “Save Post As…”, give the draft a name, and save the draft. You can then open the saved post for editing later.
If you want to post immediately you only have to create your post, connect to your account, and click the “Post Entry” button.
In order to connect to your account you go to the File menu and click “Connect”.
Gotchas
Outside of the seriously lacking account types you can use, there is a gotcha you will find when using Blogger. The Blogger system is using a newer API and the current iteration of BloGTK can not make use of all of its features. For instance, you can not add a title to your blogs with this release. You also can not use the Extended Entry or Excerpt features as well. Outside of that, BloGTK works just fine.
When the 2.0 release of BloGTK hits the repositories this application’s usefulness will be extended quite a bit. All of the Blogger features will work and, hopefully, more APIs will be added so more accounts can be used.

"mail" is a command to send and receive mail in Unix, Linux and BSD operating system. To initiate a mail sending process, just type in the following command:

He would have to know your IP address and the share name to be able to access the files. Meiga makes it easy by showing you the URL in the statusbar as you click on each share. This is the URL other person would need to visit to access the files. If you are on a network like your home network, chances are you would be knowing the IP addresses on your machines, so getting a file simply means browsing to http://[ip address]:8001/[share name] and you would see a list of all the files and folders within the shared folder. If you are sharing files across the Internet, then of course, you would have to communicate the share’s URL to the other end via email or chat.
While the ability to share files with ease is the stronghold of Meiga, it can certainly do with some basic features like password protection the ability to view all shares on a particular computer. All in all Meiga is great for easy, no fuss file sharing with minimal effort.

It’s always practical to have a gaming device at hand when your on the move It sounds little bit nerdy but true it is. You never know when you’re going to end up in line, stuck in traffic, or locked in an elevator for three days in a row.
However, before I switched Windows Mobile, getting some decent games on my pre-historic cellphone was pretty much impossible, and one doesn’t string a PSP around his neck all day and expect to be popular with the ladies. So, imagine my joy when I got to know that there are free games for iPod that I can download!
These games, which were mainly meant to be downloaded from the iTunes store, could help you kill that little time that was still moving, and although gaming sounds highly impractical with a scroll-click-weel and a center button, they’re great fun i must say.
However, paying for these games gets old quick. Especially because you’re paying 5 bucks (or 5 Euros - people really don’t seem to know how to convert prices) for games you’ve played in your browser a few years ago, like Tetris and music quizzes.
The problem with the iPod’s freeware games market is Apple’s overprotectiveness. It’s not easy to put games on your iPod that weren’t bought in iTunes. But today, we’re going to show you how it’s done.
Please Note: that the iPods supported by this tutorial are the iPod Video 5G and 5.5G (pictured above). Trying this with iPod Nano’s, iPod Classics, or any of the newer models will be bound to result in failure (and there is no other alternative but installing Linux on your iPod).
Either way, everything described in this tutorial, you do on your own risk. Everything 3.1 is not responsible for any potential problems, or damage to your iPod.
So let’s get started,
Prepping your iPod for free games
The process consists of three parts. First, we’re going to make sure iTunes won’t undo all our hard work with the next synchronisation. Then, we’ll need to copy the necessary files and folders to our iPod, and finally, we’re going to patch our firmware.
Configuring iTunes
First of all, let’s fire up iTunes and disable a few options. In Devices - iPod - Options in the Summary tab, make sure that Enable disk use is checked. Also, go to the Games tab and disable the Sync games box. Now, close iTunes and make sure your iPod is mounted. If not, remove it and plug it in again.
Moving the files
Next, configure Windows Explorer to display hidden files and folders. If you’re using XP, go to Tools - Folder Options. On Vista, this option can be found in Organize - Folder and Search Options.
In the View tab, make sure Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Open your mounted iPod in Windows Explorer and navigate to iPod_ControlGames_RO and extract the hex folder of your downloaded games. Read more about where to get these games at the bottom of the article.
Patching your iPod
For this one, you’ll need to download iPodWizard (v1.3) and the right firmware file - 5G or 5.5G. If you don’t know for certain which you need, the 5.5G iPod is the one with search function.
Fire up iPodWizard and make sure the edit mode is set to Firmware File. Then, browse to the correct firmware. Finally, press Write to iPod and follow the directions on your screen. Yo! If you do a quick Google search, a few sites will pop up where you can find free games for your iPod that you can download, one of those sites is Emobilez. This site offers a wide variety of free mobile/portable software, and has a healthy arsenal of games as well.
Although I’ve got my doubts with some of them (e.g. Lost and Zuma), all games are believed to be in the public domain.

It’s not as far fetched as it sounds – social bookmarking service Ma.gnolia lost all user data permanently this year. And hackers, downtime, and errors happen all the time. The moral? Always have a backup.
Just as you save your essay constantly so you don’t lose your work, or back up your entire hard drive in case it crashes, it’s prudent to have a copy of your social media data. That information can be just as important as your email and personal files, but there hasn’t been an easy way to copy that data from the cloud. Enter Lifestream Backup, a service that will back up your Twitter, Flickr, Google Docs, and more. The service’s premise is relatively simple: you want to protect your social media data in case of chatastrophic circumstances, failure, or just to have a copy for your own records. To do this, Lifestream Backup connects to your social accounts and pulls the data, pictures, blog posts, and files you’ve added, created, or associated with your accounts.
The actual process of backing up is easy, and the results are accessible without much issue. For Flickr, it stores a copy of your photos. For Twitter, it creates an XML file with every tweet you’ve ever made. In total, Lifestream Backup supports eight services: Twitter, Flickr, Photobucket, Google Docs, Wordpress, Delicious, Basecamp, and Zoho. And according to Lifestream, Facebook, Gmail, and YouTube support are coming soon.
In addition to accessing all of your backups, you can also see your backup history. The company will tell you when the backup began, when it finished, and the result. You can set the backups to occur either weekly or daily, and you can get email digests of backup activity. Backups also occur fast – even though it told me it would take a few hours, backing up my Flickr and Twitter only took minutes.
Backing up your social media doesn’t come free, though – the service costs $4.95 a month, which is similar to standard data backup service like Mozy. This may be a worthwhile price to pay if you’re a heavy social media user.
However, even Lifestream Backup isn’t a guarantee that your data is safe. It takes information in the cloud and places it into another cloud, powered by Amazon Web Services. While AWS is incredibly reliable, it’s not perfect, which is also why you can download the data from Lifestream Backup. Overall, this tool provides a service that many of us actually need, but will not realize until it’s too late.

I had an Ubuntu CD so passed it along and one of my friend(a big fan of linux) was able to install it just fine. The first thing he tells me is that there no icons on the desktop? How am I supposed to browse my files?
Some distros provide you with these icons on the desktop and some don’t. Having the icons on the desktop might be an overkill for the geeks. After all, the Places Menu works just fine. However, I guess new users still want those icons on the desktop (Ubuntu forums would attest to the fact). So, if you are looking to get the Home, Trash or the Computer icons on the desktop, it is very easy.
Hit Alt + F2, type in gconf-editor in the dialog box that comes up and hit Enter. The Configuration Editor will open up. Navigate to Apps >> Nautilus >> Desktop. Towards the right side, you'll see some options. Place a check against the icons you want to see displayed on the desktop. You can display the Computer, Home, Trash and Network icons from in here. While you are there, you can also think about changing the names. If for example, if you want to change the name from “Computer” to “Varun’s Computer”, all you have to do is double-click on computer_icon_name, choose String as the type and then key in the name you want to give to it. You can also uncheck volumes_visible option if you don’t want the mounted drives to appear on the desktop. I personally loathed them, could never get in terms with where they appear (on top of each other at times) and how to customize their positions.
That’s it! You can customize what to show up and what to not on your desktop very easily.

My hard drive is 120GB in total. My computer is a couple years old, and 120GB was gigantic when I bought it. I never ever thought that I would be able use all that space.
And then, one day i got that fun-filed message saying,”You have less than 200MB available space on your hard drive. Please free some space, or your computer will begin to die a slow, painful, bitter death.” I paraphrase, but it’s not a fun message to read. And it was a shock to me because I wasn’t downloading tens of gigabytes of stuff, so where did all the space go?
One quick download later, I figured it out. TreeSize, a great and simple application, is the solution to all your storage issues. There’s a free version and a paid version, but for the basic purposes of getting rid of all the cra… I mean junk, on your computer, the free version is great. Once you download the software and run it. It automatically scans your whole hard drive (and any other attached drive you choose), and then sorts the folders by how much space they’re taking up. It searches through hidden files and folders, system folders, literally everything on your hard drive, to give you a complete look at the size of every folder. TreeSize also tells you how much space is being taken up by each folder, and which subfolder is the largest one. It doesn’t isolate a particular file, as the tree in the free version just doesn’t go down that far. But once you get to the offending folder, it’s usually pretty easy to figure out.
TreeSize can open a folder for you, or even delete it for you right from within the application. This is where the warning comes in: don’t delete things just because they take up tons of space. A quick Google/Bing for most folder names, particularly ones you don’t recognize, usually provides information on what a folder holds and whether or not you can afford to delete it. The reason I love softwares like this is because most of the space on my hard drive isn’t devoted to music, or movies; it’s devoted to old system restores, leftover logs from applications that I don’t use anymore, and more useless files that happen to make their way onto my system. I don’t need them, I don’t notice they’re gone, and about ten minutes ago, I freed up over 16GB of space by deleting a few of them.
TreeSize can make your computer run faster, free up space for more music, documents, and fun things, and avoid the disastrous slow-down and crash of your hard drive as it constantly spins, looking for massive files you don’t need anyway.
WebSlug is website which provides you a free service to measure your web site’s loading time/speed. You can do this directly from any web browser like Opera, FireFox, IE, or Chrome, and you can also compare one site to another.
The way I would use WebSlug would be to test a website’s speed. Make some minor modifications (one at a time) and test the speed again. A very handy tool at your fingertips to troubleshoot with – all you need is a web browser and an internet connection. The web site has this little tidbit for you:
Webslug is just a way of identifying potential problems with your website’s performance. How to improve it is an exercise we’ll leave to you. With that being said a general rule is that about 80% of improvements can be made on the front end.

In this instance, I chose www.buzzvines.com , which is a much bigger site with a lot more dynamic content. Yesss!!!Everything31.com beat buzzvines by 3.07 seconds.
With that, I decided to compare another set of sites - Google and Bing. Which search engine is faster? Wow! Interesting! Bing beat Google by almost 0.3 seconds! That’s huge considering their page is a lot busier!
