Gmail Now Automatically Translates Your Emails

Gmail now automatically translates your e-mails

In November last year Google added a very useful new feature to Google Reader which allowed for automatic translation of news feeds. So if there was a specific feed you liked to follow, but it was only available in Japanese, Google Reader could be setup to automatically translate it and present it as if it had always been in your language of choice.

Now that same functionality has been added to Gmail breaking down yet another language barrier and allowing for e-mail conversations between many more people without the need for additional steps to translate what is being said.

Automatic translation is a Labs feature so all you have to do to enable it is go to the Labs tab in Settings and enable the feature called “Message translation”. Any message you then receive that isn’t in your native language gets a translate option. One click later and Google Translate takes care of the rest and the message will appear in in your given language.
