THE RULES

The secret to successfully using the Roulette System is to be disciplined enough to follow a few simple rules without deviating from them. The rules:

1. Try not to over-use the system. Keep within a limit you set yourself. Try not to be greedy.

2. As you bet, do not deviate from the system's betting sequence (i.e. the amount you are supposed to bet per round).

3) The Roulette System involves always betting on "black". (Note: Betting on red instead would accomplish the exact same thing, but for the sake of this description we will always bet black.) The goal is to win £1 over and over again. To do this start by betting a £1 chip on black.

4) If the ball lands on a black number you win £1. Take your chips off the table and start again by betting another £1 on black.

(Note: Black numbers appear yellow on the board because of the black background.)

5) If the ball does not land on black (and hence you lose £1), on the next spin double your bet to £2 on black. If the next spin lands on black you will win £2. This will cover the £1 you lost in the first spin plus a profit of £1. You then clear all your chips off the table and start over again with £1 on black.

6) So the rule is, you always start with a £1 bet. When the ball lands on black (and hence a winning spin) you clear all your chips off the table and start over again with a £1 bet. When the ball lands on red, you double your bet on the next spin and continue to double your bet each spin until the ball lands on black again. Many of the Tools such as TuneUP Winstyler does this job by adjusting the Windows to display a custom icon to the user. 2. Fake Format - I remember getting my cousin once with a similar program. This cool fake virus perfectly simulates the Windows disk-format dialog, and cannot be closed or halted until it completes its course. Once it’s done, a message will be displayed informing the user that it was just a joke.
3. Fake Delete - This one is my favorite because, i love its formatting counterpart, Fake Delete mimics the Windows file-delete dialogs. It even goes as far as using your actual file list instead of generic filenames! This also has the “it-was-all-a-joke” screen after it’s done running.Doesn't matter your friend click yes or no, fake delete will start deleting all the files.

Adding Personal Favicon To Blogger

If you want your own favicon, these are the steps to put your own favicon into a Blogger or any blog.

1. Create a favicon, from a image/logo that you like then with Favicon from Pics convert it in .ico or gif file.

2. Upload it in your host root, if you don't have a host, I recommend you to use imageboo to host your favicon.

3. Now that you have your URL/link of Your Favicon, you need to add it in your template. For this login to your blogger account, then click on Dashboard >> layout >> HTML.

4. Press CTRL+F and make a click inside of template HTML code and search for this tag </head> and just above it paste this code

iPhone 3GS Jailbreak purplera1n Now Available

The first jailbreak application for the iPhone 3GS has been released by premier iPhone hacker George Hotz. Yes by the same guy who you may remember unlocked the first iPhone too.

The software is named “purplera1n,” and it is availabe for windows only, not Mac, and not Windows 7. Hotz says a jailbreak for Mac is “coming shortly.” Hotz’s application requires an iPhone 3GS running the 3.0 OS, and the latest version of iTunes — 8.2. Once the hack is applied, your 3GS will become unlocked, but you will still be tied to your carrier.

The unlocking tool is in beta version so please make sure that you have backed up all your important data before attempting this jailbreak. Hotz has released his purplera1n solution because the iPhone Dev Team have decided to wait. In his blog post Hotz says:

Normally I don’t make tools for the general public, and rather wait for the dev team to do it. But guys, whats up with waiting until 3.1? That isn’t how the game is played. We release, Apple fixes, we find new holes.

Change Blogger Template Without Deleting Widgets

One of the Major Problem every Blogspot Blogger users have is whenever they try to change their templates, They loss their widgets even if they take backup of their template. After Changing their template, they need to add widgets again manually. If only one or two widgets in the sidebar or you just build your blog, it would not be a big issue, but if you have so many widgets in the sidebar and your blog is enough old then of course it will be more complicated. So what's solution?

I've created this tutorial/guide to help you to change your current template without losing any widgets.

1. Create new blog. This is a test blog.

2. Upload your new template to test blog.

3. Go to Dashboard. Click to Layout of current blog (not new test blog) --> Edit HTML --> search for: <div id='sidebar'> copy all widget code between <div id='sidebar'> to </div>

4. Now Go again to Dashboard. Click Layout (at new test blog) --> edit HTML --> search for <div id='sidebar'> --> paste all widget code that you have copied. Put it between <div id='sidebar'> too

5. Save your template

6. Download and save full template of test blog

7. Upload to your current blog layout, and you get new layout without deleting widget

Gmail Adds Lebels, Drag and Drop, Hiding, and More New Features

A few months ago Gmail got some new buttons and keyboard shortcuts to make labeling easier, especially for those of you accustomed to that familiar folder feel. Now they're making some more changes to Gmail's labeling toolkit.

1) New location for labels
You'll notice your labels in a new location on the left of your inbox (or on the right, for those of you using the Arabic, Hebrew, or Urdu versions of Gmail). Instead of having their own section, your labels are now above your chat list, grouped together with Inbox, Drafts, Chats and other system labels.

2) Label hiding and showing
You now have control over which of your labels show. We've done our best to get you started by automatically showing the labels you use most and hiding the rest. Label hiding is my favorite new feature, since it saves me from having to look through labels I rarely use. If I ever need to reach any of my old labels, I just click the "more" link.

You can show, hide, or delete a label by clicking the down-arrow to the left of that label.

If you want to make a lot of changes at once, go to the Labels tab under Settings where you can edit labels in bulk.

For those of you who created label names like _stuff or ++todo++ to force your most-used labels to the top of the list (come on, you know who you are, I did it too...), you don't have to come up with clever tricks like that anymore ;)

3) Drag and drop
You can now drag messages into labels, just like you can with folders. This does the exact same thing as "Move to" -- it labels and archives in one step.

You can drag labels onto messages too. It's the same thing as using the "Label" button. To label or move many messages at once, first select the messages and then drag and drop the label.

It's also possible to drag labels into the "more" menu to hide them and vice versa. If you only want to move a couple labels around, I've found it quicker than going to Settings.

All of these changes also mean the end of Right-side Labels, an experimental Gmail Labs feature. This is the first Labs feature we're retiring. (The idea behind Labs was always that things could break or disappear at any time or they might work so well that they become regular features. More on that soon...) Now that labels aren't in their own little box and take up much less space, moving them around the screen didn't seem as important. We realize quite a few of you used and liked Right-side Labels, so if you feel strapped for left nav screen real estate without it, try turning on Right-side Chat in Labs instead.

We hope these new changes make labeling even easier and help you stay organized. We'll be rolling out these labeling features for everyone throughout the day, so if you don't see them right away please check later today.

Blogging From Your Desktop With BloGTK

What is BloGTK?

BloGTK is a software/application that allows you to easily blog from the comfort of your own desktop. “But wait!”, you say, “I can blog already from my desktop, with the help of my browser.” Yes you can. But with BloGTK you can blog offline, save drafts, have multiple accounts, and you don't need to open a browser and and and much more. So, let’s take a look at how you can start using BloGTK as your desktop blogging system.

Installing BloGTK

Before we get into connecting to your blog we have to install the application first. This is very simple. You can install BloGTK from the command line with a command such as:

sudo apt-get install blogtk

or

yum install blogtk

Or you can open up your Add/Remove Software utility, search for “blogtk” (without quotes), select the resulting entry, and click Apply to install.

Once BloGTK is installed you will find the menu entry in the Internet submenu of your Applications or Main menu.

Making the connection

BloGTK doesn’t offer as many connection types as some of the other tools. But it does connect to:

Blogger
MoveableType
MetaWeblog API

As of the current release (ver 1.1) BloGTK doesn’t handle the MetaWeblog API well so it does'nt support Drupal, Wordpress etc. yet. So for the purposes of this article I will show you how to connect to a Blogger account with this software.

The very first thing you have to do is go to the Edit menu and select the Accounts and Settings entry. When this new window opens.Notice the Server URL. For Blogger this is the exact URL you need to use to connect. Other than that you will enter the username and password for your Blogger account and make sure Blogger is selected from the list of Blogging Systems.

Once you have this done click Save and then click OK.

You should notice, at the bottom of the main BloGTK window (See Picture Below) the instructions telling you to use File/Connect to connect (or re-connect) to your server.You do not have to connect to the server right away. You can create your blog entry first and then connect to the server and post your entry. Or you can create an entry and save as draft for later posting.

To save an entry you go about creating and, when you are ready to save, click the File menu and select “Save Post As…”, give the draft a name, and save the draft. You can then open the saved post for editing later.

If you want to post immediately you only have to create your post, connect to your account, and click the “Post Entry” button.

In order to connect to your account you go to the File menu and click “Connect”.

Gotchas

Outside of the seriously lacking account types you can use, there is a gotcha you will find when using Blogger. The Blogger system is using a newer API and the current iteration of BloGTK can not make use of all of its features. For instance, you can not add a title to your blogs with this release. You also can not use the Extended Entry or Excerpt features as well. Outside of that, BloGTK works just fine.

When the 2.0 release of BloGTK hits the repositories this application’s usefulness will be extended quite a bit. All of the Blogger features will work and, hopefully, more APIs will be added so more accounts can be used.

Scoopler - A Real Time Search Tool for Twitter

Twitter’s search engine leaves a lot to be desired. The native search frequently brings up incomplete results, both in a current search and going back. Plus Twitter search seems to frequently be down, and always be shoddy.

The best alternative, and a great way to track and search Twitter, is Scoopler. Scoopler is a fast, real-time search engine for Twitter – that’s also got some cool features of its own. It does its main job well, and adds just enough features to make it miles ahead of Twitter’s own search.
For the sake of full explanations, let me tell you that Scoopler also searches results from Flickr, Digg, Delicious, and some other sites – given the relative slowness with which these sites are updated, Twitter tends to both dominate search results and be the most functional use of Scoopler’s search.
When you search for a word or phrase (pick your own, or use one of the popular ones Scoopler suggests), you’re taken immediately to a waterfall-looking column of tweets, that updates as new ones come in. Frequently, it’s too fast to read, especially if you’re tracking a popular subject; you can easily pause the updates if you need to catch up.
In addition, Scoopler does an excellent job with multimedia stuff – videos, images, links, and the like. Within the stream of tweets on your topic, Scoopler extracts all the videos, image, and links to a convenient sidebar, where it organizes them by type, and by the number of shares. If a video is being passed around, you can see it without digging through the stream to figure out what it is you’re looking for. You can easily share anything on Scoopler, too, just by clicking “Peek.”
One thing I like to do periodically is click the “view all” button on the home screen – this tracks all of the most popular topics at once. First of all, the speed at which they update is crazy. Second of all, it’s a lot like skimming news headlines, and is a great way to get caught up on what’s happening.
One day, I predict, Twitter will fix its search – it’ll probably look a lot like Scoopler, actually. But for now, Scoopler seems to be one of the best of a small number of Web apps that let you search and track what’s happening on Twitter and in the world, pretty much at the speed of light.

Send Email From Linux Through Command Line Shell

"mail" is a command to send and receive mail in Unix, Linux and BSD operating system. To initiate a mail sending process, just type in the following command:

mail recipient@domain.com

Replace recipient@domain.com with a valid email address.

The system will prompt for a subject of the email before allowing user to type in the mail message body.

# mail receipent@domain.com
Subject: For Testing Only
This email is for testing the mail delivery system only.
^D (EOT)

Once finished typing the email message, press Ctrl-D (shown as ^D in example above), which represents End of Text (EOT). Depending on system, mail may or may not prompt another input request for any recipients to cc (carbon copy) to. Press Enter to skip or accept the input, and get the mail sent.

Tip: If the sender and recipient is on the same system, it’s possible to omit the domain (@domain.com) part of the address, leaving only user name.

It’s also possible to use mail’s arguments or switches to directly send mail without interactive input. For example,

mail -s Test address@domain.com < /dev/null

Command above will immediately send a blank email with empty body to the recipient address with the subject "Test". For more arguments, type "man mail".

Get A "Skype-In" Number For Absolutely Free

If you use Skype and you pay for Skype credit, you can call out from Skype on your computer to normal phones like mobile or landline at a discounted rate. You can also get a “Skype-In” phone number for an additional cost, which is essentially a Skype number disguised as a local land line, so that all calls to that number will be forwarded to your Skype account, allowing you to take the call anywhere and on any computer with Skype installed. This benefits the caller, if Skype is not available, he/she can always contact you simply by dialing your local number or mobile number.

It’s a cool thing, but outside of this site’s staff I don’t have much use for the service, many of my friends are still using AIM for goodness’ sake. That changed today when I signed up for phone numbers to forward calls to my Skype account, and unlike the Skype-In service, they didn’t cost me a single damn buck. Yes!!! the service i am going to tell you today is absolutely free.

Find out how I did it.
If you don’t have a Skype account, please be sure to set up an account with Skype first. You’ll need to provide your Skype ID when you register at Ring2Skype, which is where you get your free “Skype-In” number. There are a lot of countries to choose from, and you may register multiple numbers. For example, I’ve registered numbers in Windsor, Canada and London, UK as well as a US (New York City) number. My friend in Manhattan can call me up as if I lived there. Co-workers in London and Canada can now call me without ringing up international charges.

Here in the US, we have but a few choices as to our number’s calling area. I could get a number (with a three-digit extension) in California, Florida, Maine or New York. Japan’s numbers are limited to Tokyo, and Israel to Tel Aviv. It’s going to be a bit odd giving friends in Louisville my Manhattan number, but these days when long-distance and local calling are often the same price, it shouldn’t be too big a stretch.

There really is no catch. Call quality was as good as a regular Skype, Mig33 or Mobile Phone call. I plan on giving these numbers out to business contacts, and once Google Voice (which I hope to review for you soon) allows forwarding my GV number to extensions, I plan on using this service with friends and family as well.

Michael Jackson Has Died, Sad News

Pop star Michael Jackson has been rushed to hospital in Los Angeles with a suspected cardiac arrest. Jackson’s family members are reportedly rushing to his bedside. The Los Angeles Times reported that the 50-year-old singer was not breathing when paramedics arrived at his home.

Update: We're told that Michael Jackson "KING OF POP"(1958-2009) has died. He was just 50.
Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back. Jackson's songs were featured on a number of different movie soundtracks over the years, and as an actor he appeared in the film The Wiz.

Of course we'll never forget his extended music video for Thriller, directed by John Landis. Though he's had his share of problems and controversy over the years, it's sad to hear that one of the great pop-culture icons of our generation has passed on. :'(

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

Jackson had 13 number one hits during his solo career.

Meiga, The Best Linux File Sharing Program

Meiga is one of the best file sharing programs to share files across your network or over the Internet. It is available for Linux, and the best part is that you can access files from other operating systems as well. Download the deb packages for Meiga from here. If you use other non-debian based distributions, you would have to compile from source.

Once installed, fire up the GUI. (Applications > Internet > Meiga in Ubuntu). You would be greeted by a mini window like this.
Click on add and browse to the directory you want to share, then choose the share name, you'll have to remove any spaces and make the name as simple as possible.
That's it, you have shared the folder successfully. Isn't it easy?

The person on the other side doesn’t need to install anything as long as a web browser or an http download manager is available. He would have to know your IP address and the share name to be able to access the files. Meiga makes it easy by showing you the URL in the statusbar as you click on each share. This is the URL other person would need to visit to access the files.
If you are on a network like your home network, chances are you would be knowing the IP addresses on your machines, so getting a file simply means browsing to http://[ip address]:8001/[share name] and you would see a list of all the files and folders within the shared folder.
If you are sharing files across the Internet, then of course, you would have to communicate the share’s URL to the other end via email or chat.

While the ability to share files with ease is the stronghold of Meiga, it can certainly do with some basic features like password protection the ability to view all shares on a particular computer. All in all Meiga is great for easy, no fuss file sharing with minimal effort.

Totally Free Unlimited Internet Access Anywhere

Hey! believe me, this is no joke. There are still some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) out there offering free internet service. Today we’re going to look at a few ways to find totally free unlimited Internet access.

There are two routes to go here. You can go the WiFi route, which is far more popular and usually in the broadband range for speed. Or, you can go the dial-up route which is slower, however you can access it from the convenience of your own home or maybe from a hotel without WiFi service.

It may be slower, but keep in mind beggars can’t be choosers.

Freedom List

You might be living or travelling outside of the northern two-thirds of North America and be in need of dial-up service. Yes, believe it or not, there is more to the world than North America. I know, shocker isn’t it?! Freedom List offers a, well, list of free ISPs broken down by country. Just take a look! Isn't it impressive?
So, if your WiFi card is broken, or you just can’t sit at the cafe any longer, check Freedom List out.

All Free ISP

All Free ISP has a simple way to access their database and find a service provider near you. A major benefit is that their database covers the United States of America as well as Canada. You are more likely to find free service in the U.S.A. than in Canada, so I was pleasantly surprised to find several providers in my home province of Alberta.

Just go to All Free ISP and select your State or Province. You can also search by ZIP or Postal Code. Then click on our friend, the Go button. I’m also partial to his cousins the Enter and Next button - really handy fellows, the whole bunch.
The website then shows you a page of free and cheap ISPs you can access from your area. Here’s what showed up for me.
See how it breaks the list down into cities? That’s a nice touch. How about the rating system and letting you know what platforms are supported? Pretty nifty. From here, you can click on the name of an ISP and find out more about them. Let’s do that, shall we?
This just shows you a basic overview of the ISP. Really, do I need to explain this? No, exactly! That’s why I like this site. If you go to All Free ISP and follow through to this point, you’ll see that there is way more information than I’m showing here. Based on what they present, you can make an educated guess about whether you want to use this ISP or not.

At this point also, you realize that nothing is really free. If you choose Juno, you’ll be subjected to large banner ads for the privilege of using their service. No different than watching TV really.

Buy and Sell Websites On Flippa

Three days back 0n June 22, 2009 the domain sales service known as SitePoint split and they changed their name to Flippa. Flippa’s design is simplified compared to SitePoint although it still offers options to browse popular categories like established or premium websites. According to SitePoint, Flippa will offer a new search function that allows users to search for specific things such as minimum traffic or maximum traffic. Flippa will also be featuring a statistics widget which will allow website shoppers to see quick stats about a particular site or domain such as details like website’s Google page rank and their unique visitors per month etc.

The changes don’t come without a hefty price tag, however. Flippa will also be introduced with a new fee structure more expensive than SitePoint’s previous fee structure. Flippa will be charging a “success fee” similar to eBay’s final value fee. SitePoint has not yet announced whether or not they will be offering a marketplace for hosting, link sales, or scripts. User feedback made on SitePoint forums in regard to the change has been mostly negative. Many Twitter users are also spreading news of the change with retweets at the TechCrunch twitter account saying “SitePoint Spins Off Website Marketplace As Flippa, Upsets Users.”
SitePoint co-founder, Mark Harbottle commented,

If you want to come across to flippa and sell your site in the professional marketplace we’re creating for serious buyers, we welcome you with open arms. If not, please do go to digitalpoint. List your site for free and see if the old adage of “you get what you pay for” applies.

This comment shocked and appalled many Digital Point users, many of which felt the remark by Mark Harbottle was “unprofessional” and that it was a “low blow” to the DigitalPoint.com webmaster community.

Mark Harbottle also commented, “Meanwhile while you all whine and complain about the fees, the design, etc. the smart sellers are listing their sites on flippa.com and they are attracting the majority of the buyer interest,” which many SitePoint users found it not only hurtful for being called whiners and complainers, but also that this blow came after the announcement that fees will be rising. It came as a shocker that those who list their sites on SitePoint were insulted and told to leave if they don’t like the changes. It’s always practical to have a gaming device at hand when your on the move It sounds little bit nerdy but true it is. You never know when you’re going to end up in line, stuck in traffic, or locked in an elevator for three days in a row.

However, before I switched Windows Mobile, getting some decent games on my pre-historic cellphone was pretty much impossible, and one doesn’t string a PSP around his neck all day and expect to be popular with the ladies. So, imagine my joy when I got to know that there are free games for iPod that I can download!

These games, which were mainly meant to be downloaded from the iTunes store, could help you kill that little time that was still moving, and although gaming sounds highly impractical with a scroll-click-weel and a center button, they’re great fun i must say.

However, paying for these games gets old quick. Especially because you’re paying 5 bucks (or 5 Euros - people really don’t seem to know how to convert prices) for games you’ve played in your browser a few years ago, like Tetris and music quizzes.

The problem with the iPod’s freeware games market is Apple’s overprotectiveness. It’s not easy to put games on your iPod that weren’t bought in iTunes. But today, we’re going to show you how it’s done.

Please Note: that the iPods supported by this tutorial are the iPod Video 5G and 5.5G (pictured above). Trying this with iPod Nano’s, iPod Classics, or any of the newer models will be bound to result in failure (and there is no other alternative but installing Linux on your iPod).

Either way, everything described in this tutorial, you do on your own risk. Everything 3.1 is not responsible for any potential problems, or damage to your iPod.

So let’s get started,

Prepping your iPod for free games

The process consists of three parts. First, we’re going to make sure iTunes won’t undo all our hard work with the next synchronisation. Then, we’ll need to copy the necessary files and folders to our iPod, and finally, we’re going to patch our firmware.

Configuring iTunes

First of all, let’s fire up iTunes and disable a few options. In Devices - iPod - Options in the Summary tab, make sure that Enable disk use is checked.
Also, go to the Games tab and disable the Sync games box.

Now, close iTunes and make sure your iPod is mounted. If not, remove it and plug it in again.

Moving the files

Next, configure Windows Explorer to display hidden files and folders. If you’re using XP, go to Tools - Folder Options. On Vista, this option can be found in Organize - Folder and Search Options.

In the View tab, make sure Show hidden files and folders is enabled.

Open your mounted iPod in Windows Explorer and navigate to iPod_ControlGames_RO and extract the hex folder of your downloaded games. Read more about where to get these games at the bottom of the article.

Patching your iPod

For this one, you’ll need to download iPodWizard (v1.3) and the right firmware file - 5G or 5.5G. If you don’t know for certain which you need, the 5.5G iPod is the one with search function.

Fire up iPodWizard and make sure the edit mode is set to Firmware File. Then, browse to the correct firmware. Finally, press Write to iPod and follow the directions on your screen.

Yo! Congratulations, you should now be able to find your games on your iPod under extras. Have fun!

If you do a quick Google search, a few sites will pop up where you can find free games for your iPod that you can download, one of those sites is Emobilez. This site offers a wide variety of free mobile/portable software, and has a healthy arsenal of games as well.

Although I’ve got my doubts with some of them (e.g. Lost and Zuma), all games are believed to be in the public domain.

Namco To Release Tekken 6 This October

Namco’s arcade fighter Tekken 6 is finally coming Stateside, and to celebrate the publisher has announced a slew of goodies accompanying its October 27 release.

Tekken is one of the best game i(James) have ever played, the Cardboard Tube Samurai, a recurring character from the gaming webcomic Penny Arcade, is joining the roster, with a couple of catches. First, it isn’t an all-new character, but rather an alternate costume for Tekken regular Yoshimitsu. Second, the perk comes only for customers who pre-order the game from GameStop.

The GameStop pre-order contains more bonuses, such as a calendar and something known as Samurai Battle Banners.

Fans who followed (or suffered from) the massive shortage of joysticks following the release of Capcom’s Street Fighter IV will be pleased to know that Namco is also releasing a $150 limited edition packing a Hori joystick. That edition will come with yet still another bonus, an art book.

Tekken 6 lands on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this October.

Back Up Your Tweets Easily

What would you do if all of the activity and data from your Twitter, Flickr, Delicious, or Wordpress accounts were to suddenly disappear? It’s not as far fetched as it sounds – social bookmarking service Ma.gnolia lost all user data permanently this year. And hackers, downtime, and errors happen all the time. The moral? Always have a backup.

Just as you save your essay constantly so you don’t lose your work, or back up your entire hard drive in case it crashes, it’s prudent to have a copy of your social media data. That information can be just as important as your email and personal files, but there hasn’t been an easy way to copy that data from the cloud. Enter Lifestream Backup, a service that will back up your Twitter, Flickr, Google Docs, and more.
The service’s premise is relatively simple: you want to protect your social media data in case of chatastrophic circumstances, failure, or just to have a copy for your own records. To do this, Lifestream Backup connects to your social accounts and pulls the data, pictures, blog posts, and files you’ve added, created, or associated with your accounts.

The actual process of backing up is easy, and the results are accessible without much issue. For Flickr, it stores a copy of your photos. For Twitter, it creates an XML file with every tweet you’ve ever made. In total, Lifestream Backup supports eight services: Twitter, Flickr, Photobucket, Google Docs, Wordpress, Delicious, Basecamp, and Zoho. And according to Lifestream, Facebook, Gmail, and YouTube support are coming soon.

In addition to accessing all of your backups, you can also see your backup history. The company will tell you when the backup began, when it finished, and the result. You can set the backups to occur either weekly or daily, and you can get email digests of backup activity. Backups also occur fast – even though it told me it would take a few hours, backing up my Flickr and Twitter only took minutes.

Backing up your social media doesn’t come free, though – the service costs $4.95 a month, which is similar to standard data backup service like Mozy. This may be a worthwhile price to pay if you’re a heavy social media user.

However, even Lifestream Backup isn’t a guarantee that your data is safe. It takes information in the cloud and places it into another cloud, powered by Amazon Web Services. While AWS is incredibly reliable, it’s not perfect, which is also why you can download the data from Lifestream Backup. Overall, this tool provides a service that many of us actually need, but will not realize until it’s too late.

This is a simple hack to enable MMS on iPhone OS 3.0

The non-availability of MMS and tethering feature in the U.S at the time of the launch of iPhone OS 3.0 was probably the most disappointing news that was announced at the WWDC 2009 Keynote address.
In case you didn't know, Aaron Krill over at Krillr.com has also figured out a way to enable MMS on iPhone OS 3.0.

Now, on to the walk through.

Before you start, you must have these things:

Modified version of ATT_US.ipcc which can be downloaded from here.
iPhone running iPhone OS 3.0
iTunes 8.2
Another AT&T Phone (not an iPhone)

You then need to enable IPCC updates for iTunes 8.2 and copy the IPCC file to your iPhone. To achieve this, you need to follow these instructions:

Enabling IPCC Updates for iTunes 8.2:

iTunes 8.2 will not allow you to apply the IPCC updates so you need to follow these steps:

MAC OS X:

Close iTunes.
Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal).
Run the command: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE.

Windows 32 Bit:

Close iTunes.
Go to Start then Run and type CMD.
Run this command(If you right-click on the cmd window you can paste): “C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1.

Windows 64 Bit:

Close iTunes.
Go to Start then Run and type CMD.
Run this command(If you right-click on the cmd window you can paste): “C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1.

Copying the IPCC file to your iPhone:

The above steps will allow you to update the IPCC using iTunes 8.2. To copy the IPCC file to your iPhone follow these instructions:

Open iTunes & plug in your phone.
Click on your phone in iTunes(under device settings).
Windows Users: hold shift and click “Check for updates”. MAC OS X: hold alt and click “Check for updates”.
Select the IPCC you downloaded earlier.

This is where your other AT&T phone comes in handy. You need to follow these steps to enable MMS on your iPhone:

Remove the sim cards from both the iPhone and your non-Apple phone
Place the iPhone sim card into the non-Apple phone
Power on the new phone
Make a phone call or two (your voicemail works)
Log in to your myWireless account at wireless.att.com
It should now say that your device is whatever you put your SIM into. If it doesn't, repeat step 4 a few times.
Go to the "Features" tab
Select a "Messaging Plan", one that isn't an iPhone plan.
Click next and go through all the legal crap
You should now have MMS enabled on your account... So DO NOT ADD AN IPHONE TEXTING PLAN BACK TO YOUR ACCOUNT! EVER! IT WILL DISABLE MMS AGAIN!

So this is where things change a bit.

Find and write down the IMEI from your non-iPhone phone. The method for finding your IMEI will vary based on your phone make and model, so go google it.
Try to send an MMS. It will probably fail.
Call AT&T customer service.

This is where things start to get tricky. We have to get a CS agent to change your account's associated IMEI WITHOUT changing any of your features. Sometimes this is difficult. To make your life easier, I've designed a step-by-step procedure on how to accomplish this.

Call 611 from the non-iPhone
Tell them that you've switched phones and need to update your IMEI
Give them the IMEI you wrote down
Once they do this, they'll try and get you to change your Data plan. Tell them you have an sudden emergency and dont have time but you'll call back in about 20 minutes to change the plans. Hang up immediately.
Wait about 5 minutes and try sending an MMS
If it doesn't work, call them back and tell them you're having issues with MMS on your phone.
If they try and get you to update your data/text plans, hang up and try again. You get a different CS agent every time, sooner or alter they'll fix it without trying to get you to change plans.
Swap the iPhone sim card back into the iPhone
Reboot the iPhone

It should work, and hopefully they won't notice you have an iPhone and do the re-optout

This has worked for a few people. Hopefully it will work for you.

Please Note: AT&T Family Plan users who have a family messaging plan can skip steps 7-11.
Please don't add an iPhone texting plan back to your account, as it will disable MMS again.
Aaron has reported that AT&T may be blocking these steps from immediately taking effect so he has adviced users to call AT&T after step 10/11 and before step 12 to complain that MMS isn't working. According to him this should fix the issue.

Sri Lanka's failure to take early wickets proved crucial as Afridi and Shoaib Malik (24) clinched victory with eight balls to spare.

Earlier, Sri Lanka, led by captain Kumar Sangakkara had recovered to reach 138-6 after Abdul Razzaq had ripped through its top order to take 3-20.

My Comments: Pakistan have done it again, they have shown that cricket is the only sport accept for maybe "hockey" they are good at. By beating the Sri Lankan team by 8 wickets they have proved that they are so super crazy in cricket. Pakistan need some good news especially with the current situation in the country so its always good to hear some good news which will try and combat the mountain of bad the country has been seeing in recent months!

How To Display Home, Computer, Trash icons On Ubuntu's Desktop

I had an Ubuntu CD so passed it along and one of my friend(a big fan of linux) was able to install it just fine. The first thing he tells me is that there no icons on the desktop? How am I supposed to browse my files?

Some distros provide you with these icons on the desktop and some don’t. Having the icons on the desktop might be an overkill for the geeks. After all, the Places Menu works just fine. However, I guess new users still want those icons on the desktop (Ubuntu forums would attest to the fact). So, if you are looking to get the Home, Trash or the Computer icons on the desktop, it is very easy.

Follow along (works for all Gnome-based distros)

Hit Alt + F2, type in gconf-editor in the dialog box that comes up and hit Enter.
The Configuration Editor will open up. Navigate to Apps >> Nautilus >> Desktop.
Towards the right side, you'll see some options. Place a check against the icons you want to see displayed on the desktop. You can display the Computer, Home, Trash and Network icons from in here.
While you are there, you can also think about changing the names. If for example, if you want to change the name from “Computer” to “Varun’s Computer”, all you have to do is double-click on computer_icon_name, choose String as the type and then key in the name you want to give to it.
You can also uncheck volumes_visible option if you don’t want the mounted drives to appear on the desktop. I personally loathed them, could never get in terms with where they appear (on top of each other at times) and how to customize their positions.

That’s it! You can customize what to show up and what to not on your desktop very easily.

Jailbreak iPhone OS 3.0 Using PwnageTool 3.0 in Mac

This guide is for iPhone 3.0 firmware using the PwnageTool 3.0 for Mac.

The latest Pwnage Tool was released in the morning today. [iPhone Dev Blog]

Before you start, read our jailbreak preparation guide: more after the fold.

Download PwnageTool to Jailbreak iPhone 3.0

Before you start, let me tell you this guide is not applicable for:

iPhone 3GS
iPodTouch 2.0
Unlocking iPhone 3G

We have tried it out, and figured out the process. If you have done any iPhone jailbreaking before, the process is the same as with PwnageTool 2.0. That being said, here's a step by step guide to using the 3.0 Pwnage Tool.

Disclaimer: We are not responsible for any damages to your iPhone during the use of our article/video/instructions.

Keep the following in mind before you begin (as of time of this post):

The PwnageTool is available only for MAC OS
The newest version of iTunes, iTunes 8.2, is must required
You can only Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using this tool, you cannot unlock it at this time
You can Jailbreak and Unlock your iPhone 2.0
You can Jailbreak iPodTouch 1.0
You cannot jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3GS
You must restore your iPhone to the latest firmware 3.0

1. You will need the following files before your start:

PwnageTool 3.0
Latest Firmware Files for your iPhone or iPodTouch
Boot loader Files - you need them only for iPhone 2G

2. We recommend you to put all the files and "Pwnage Tools" programs in one directory

When you download firmware files may be named:

iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw.zip
iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw.zip

Don't UNZIP, change - rename them to

iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw
iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

3. Back up your iPhone

4. Disconnect the USB cable from your iPhone

5. Turn off/Shutdown your iPhone (Hold Home and Power button until power off slider is shown)

6. You can have iTunes running (it doesn't matter anyways)

7. Start PwnageTool

8. Follow the steps in Pwnage tool

* Accept Copyright and Disclaimer
* Select Simple or Expert Mode (this guide is based on Expert Mode)
-
* Select Device Type to Jailbreak/Unlock
* Click to continue in expert mode, you will see "Browse for IPSW ..."
* Click "Browse for IPSW ..." and select the firmware for your device
* After selection you will get to IPSW configuration screen.

* Configure your custom IPSW file.

- Select First Configuration - General, and click Next (blue button)
* You'll get to the General Settings Screen. You can uncheck "Activate the phone" setting if your phone was officially activated and you are on a contract with an official service provider. (i.e. if you have an official contract with AT&T)
* If you are using an official service provider you do not need to "Unlock Baseband", therefore you can uncheck that setting. Keep in mind that "Unlock Baseband" will not work on the iPhone 3G (settings will be grayed out) as of the time of this post - you will need to read our ultrasn0w guide when ultrasn0w comes out.

Make sure to put unziped Boot loader Files in the same directory as pwnagetool and they will be located automatically.
* Settings for Cydia Installer: You can download packages into your custom IPSW file from different sources.

* Use this URL to connect to Cydia Source:

http://apt.saurik.com/dists/tangelo/main/binary-iphoneos-arm/Packages

* Click Next
* On this screen select Cydia and Icy and click next.

* On this setting screen you can pick your custom logo settings. If you uncheck them both, the originals will remain.
* When you press Next you will get back to the Settings List screen. Click on "Build" and then "Next".
* You will be asked for the name and location of your custom IPSW file.
* When you select the file name and location, the custom build process will start.

* During the build process you will be asked for the Username and Password of your computer (the Mac Admin Login). Enter it in so you can continue the build process.

* At the end of the custom build you will be presented with this message:
* If you are not sure enter no. This is needed for you to enter DFU Mode.

* You will have to follow the instructions in the Pwnage Tool to enter DFU Mode. If you did everything right, you will get the following message:
9. Connect your iPhone via USB

10. Start iTunes (if you closed it)

11. You will be presented with the message below: iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.
12. Press OK

13. Now you need to select the custom IPSW file you created. Hold Option/Alt Key and click Restore.

14. If you are in DFU mode and have created a proper IPSW file, iTunes will restore that IPSW into your iPhone.

Please Note:

If you get any error during custom restore, follow the How to recover your iPhone guide.
This jailbreak has been tested on iPhone 2G and 3G
The Dev Team is working on a method to jailbreak the new iPhone OS 3.0 on a PC.
PC users may be able to do it now if they can first create IPSW file on a Mac, and then send it over to their PC. Regardless, a Mac is required as of now.

How To Recover Your iPhone From Death

You have probably been in a situation in which your iPhone seems dead (white apple logo on a black boot up screen).

You may ask yourself: "Huh? What did I do?" Try to trace your steps:

a) Have you installed any new applications? or
b) Did you do a hard reset while your iPhone seemed frozen?

There's nothing you can do about some app crashing your iPhone. But you gotta stay away from hard resets, do them only after you're 100% sure that your Phone is not responding.

You probably tried this method (getting the device in recovery mode) and still cannot connect to iTunes. If all failed, follow the following steps:

1. 1st thing you need to do is turn off your iPhone. You may need to do a hard reset: (hold Home and Sleep buttons until the screen turns off).
2. Now Connect USB cable to your iPhone and open iTunes

3. Now, this is the most difficult part of the process.

-You need to get your iPhone into DFU (Device Firmware Update)
-Timing is everything, so make sure you have a timer.
a) Hold Home and Sleep Buttons for 10 seconds
b) After 10 seconds release Sleep Button
c) Continue Holding Home Button for 10 more seconds

If you performed the steps above correctly you will see this message in iTunes:
If not, then repeat the steps above again - keep in mind timing is everything.

4. During the next step, iTunes will restore the original firmware to your iPhone:

After the process, your iPhone gets restored but remains blank/empty.

5. After the restoration process, the iPhone reboots. If you are still connected to iTunes, you will have an option to restore your iPhone from the back-up.
Please Note: If you have been stopping backup during the iPhone sync process and have never completed your backup in full, shame on you. You will not be able to restore from backup unless you have completed a full backup in the past.

Select your option of choice and click continue.

If you selected the backup option, you will see a backup progress bar.
Note: The backup process will move at a steady pace until the last 5-10% (see screenshot above). After that, the progress bar will not move for a long period of time (1- 3 hrs). Do not stop the restore process. Everything is fine, it just takes a long time. FYI - it took us 2.5 hours for the restore process to complete.

6. After the restoration process completes, iTunes will give you a prompt and the iPhone will reboot.

After that, you will need to sync your iPhone. If your iTunes is configured to start sync automatically, you don't need to do anything.

Recover Your iPhone If Crashed By 2.0.1

This simple guide will bring your iPhone back to life after being crashed by 2.0.1

Note: Although the reason for the 2.0.1 caused crash is unsure, it was probably a result of my iTunes not being up to date. I had not yet updated to 7.7.1.

Disconnect your iPhone from the USB chord (no need to "eject'' in iTunes because the error automatically kicks your iPhone off)
Hold down the Home button and the Sleep button for 10 to 20 seconds. You will see a white light flash. The screen will shut off. Continue holding the buttons until the screen turns back on.
At this point, your screen will display the "Connect to iTunes" text.
Leave your phone alone - and please make sure it's not connected to your computer.
Close iTunes and all other programs running on your computer, it's important.
Uninstall (via Control Panel) "Apple Software Update" and "Apple Mobile Device Support"
After you uninstalled the two above programs, uninstall "Quick Time" and then "iTunes".
Now Reboot/Restart your computer
Make sure you have no "QuickTime" or iTunes" folders left anywhere on your computer. If you're using a PC, go to C>>Program Files, and search for "iTunes" or "QuickTime". Delete the blank folder.
Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and download iTunes.
Run the installation of iTunes and QuickTime.
Now iTune is fully installed in your computer, open iTunes and connect your iPhone.
You will get a pop-up notifying you that you "must restore your iPhone".
Press restore.
Allow ample time for your iPhone to restore.
Once the first restore is complete, iTunes will ask you whether you want to restore from a back up or treat it as a new phone.
Hopefully you have backed up your iPhone, otherwise you will lose all contacts, music, video, photos, and apps.

Yo! Your iPhone is back to life.

Note: If you have not yet updated to 2.0.1, it is extremely important to make sure you have iTunes 7.7.1 first. To check, open iTunes and go to Help >> About iTunes. Update if necessary.

This is not the first, and will probably not be the last either, time that health experts are rallying up to speak against the ever-present summer trend of wearing flip flops. As podiatrists stress the many infections that can be gotten by wearing this type of shoes, other specialists point out that complications can actually be very severe, as a new piece in physorg indicates.

Initially designed for short distances and with a specific purpose, namely for the beach, to protect the wearer from being burned by the hot sand, flip flops have literally taken over the world in the past couple of years. They’re worn everywhere no matter the occasion or the time of day, from on holiday to the office, and even at the White House and at wedding ceremonies. In the context of the number of complaints increasing during summer, specialists are issuing yet another warning about choosing a more supportive shoe instead of the flip flop.

The problem with flip flops, they say, is that they offer no support for the arch of the foot, thus forcing the wearer to apply more pressure on the heel and even to alter the gain to keep the shoe on. “I definitely see issues with people when summer comes and all they’re in is little flimsy flip-flops.” said Dr. Seth Anderson of Missouri Foot and Ankle in Creve Coeur, Mo., says for the publication. Anyone with flat feet, high arches, bunions, hammertoes or other foot issues can be at risk for exacerbating their problems by wearing flip-flops. Flip-flops should also be avoided by anyone with diabetes or circulation problems because symptoms can include a lack of sensation in the feet. Any cuts or abrasions might not be noticed and can lead to infections. Podiatrists say that people with knee, hip or back problems need to wear more supportive shoes so they don’t aggravate their injuries. Pain from flip-flop wear can extend from the feet up into the ankles, legs, hips and lower back, say researchers at Auburn University in Alabama.

Life as an actor isn’t always sunshine and rainbows as with the fame comes the crazed fans. Actor Robert Pattinson experienced celebrity danger first hand as he was mobbed on the set of his movie “Remember Me”.

A big and bad team of burly security guards couldn’t hold back the mob of fans who spotted Pattinson leaving the Strand bookstore.

Pattinson then attempted to rush across the road to safety when he was hit by a cab.

According to RadarOnline, one bodyguard checked Pattinson for injuries before screaming at the devotees, “You see what you did, you almost killed him!”

Robert Pattinson is currently filming the movie “Remember Me” with co-star LOST actress Emilie de Raven.

Google Now Translate Farsi, Facebook Go Persian

Google unveils a Farsi translation tool at the same time as Facebook launches a Persian version of the site. Search Engine Google has stepped up work to release a tool that will translate Farsi into English and many other languages.

The company declared it was speeding up the project because of the huge interest in what was currently going on in Iran.

At the same time, the world's biggest social networking site, Facebook, is launching a Persian version.

Both companies say they hope their efforts will improve access to information and communication.

"There is a huge amount of interest in events in Iran and people want to know what is going on inside and outside the country," Google's principal scientist, Franz Och said

"Providing access to information across language boundaries should be very helpful. It's one more tool that Persian speakers can use to communicate directly to the world and vice-versa."

Facebook announced that it had also accelerated work on its Farsi translation.

In a blog posting, the company noted that people around the world had been using Facebook to exchange information about the aftermath of the Iranian election, but that most of that had not been in English.

"Much of the content created and shared on Facebook related to these events has been in Persian - the native language of Iran - but the users have had to navigate the site in English or other languages," it said.

As a result, Facebook has now made the entire site available in a test version of Persian, "so Persian speakers inside of Iran and around the world can begin using it in their native language". Source.

Apple iPhone 3GS Review

By now you’re probably familiar with the The iPhone 3GS(S stands for SPEED) name. But in case you had a few questions regarding OS 3.0 or the new device I have got it covered.

The biggest question on most peoples mind is what the major differences are. First of all it should be pointed out that the latest update to the hardware is under the hood. The only difference in terms of visual design between the iPhone 3G and the 3GS is the name on the back of the device. But under the hood is where the real work has been done. Instead of reinventing the most popular smartphone on the market, Apple has decided to do the subtle thing and improve it. These improvements come in the form of a better processor (up from 412MHz to a rumored 600MHz). The camera has been bumped up a megapixel to 3.0 and comes with video recording and auto focus, although there still is no flash option. A hardware compass has also been included.

On the software front, OS 3.0 now comes with push notification, better MMS, tethering, the long awaited cut and paste as well as a proper GPS navigation solution. Spotlight has finally made its way to the iPhone which promises to allow users to do system wide searches. Rounding up the major features for OS 3.0 is Voice Control and stereo Bluetooth options.

So now that you get an idea of the major updates to not only the software but the phone its time to answer a few FAQ’s.

Q: Is there a big performance difference between the 3G and 3GS?

Ans: While the performance is noticeable, it is not one that is huge. Unless you’re running games such as Resident Evil etc. you will notice load times of one to two seconds faster but that is about it. On the other hand if gaming is a requirement for your iPhone then you definitely want to look into the 3GS as the gaming performance (including frame rate) are mark improvements over the 3G.
In terms of internet speed etc. this remains the same as the 3GS has the same wireless chip as its predecessor and AT&T is not rolling out 4G until another year or two.

Q: How useful is cut and paste?

Ans: There is no doubt that cut and paste is a standard feature of any smartphone, but one question everyone has on their lips is if cut and paste on the iPhone is comparable to that on other devices such as the Blackberry and Palm Pre.

First of all, Apple has decided to go with a predictive selection technology that tries and figures out how much of the text you want selected to cut, copy or paste. It’s pretty accurate and if it fails to give you what you want, you can always use the little nubs at the begging and end of the selection to increase or decrease your selection, something that is lacking in all other smartphones I’ve tested. Was it worth the wait, probably not, but at least it brings something new to the game.

Q: Is the Compass and Voice Control useful?

Ans: A compass in a cell phone wasn’t something most industry analysts were expecting. But Apple decided to shock us with a full working hardware compass in the 3GS iPhone. As to whether it is useful or not is yet to be determined. I will say that if you are planning to upgrade to the new 3GS, the compass should not be on your list of reasons. While it works perfectly, it’s yet to be proven how it is more useful then the built in GPS with Google maps. Had the phone been lacking GPS options then maybe, but honestly I am yet to see a real use for the compass except for hikers lost in Wyoming. It still is nice to play around with though.

Voice control is another new feature that I’m not quite getting. Yes it’s awesome to be able to tell your phone what to do instead of making it do it. But I just wish the voice control features were a little easier to operate. For one it requires you to hold down the home button for every use, and since multi tasking still hasn’t made it to the iPhone, once the Voice Control app is exited, you have to do the process all over again. However it is nice if you want to keep your eyes on the road instead of on your phone.

Q: What’s up with Tethering and MMS?

A: If you live in the U.S, I’m sad to say that AT&T sees no reason in bringing tethering (or MMS) to the iPhone3GS at launch (June 19th). While they have said that MMS will be available later on this summer, there is no word on when the tethering option will be available.

That said for those in other countries that will offer the tethering option, you should find it to work just fine. Unfortunately since I’m based in the U.S the option to try out both the MMS and tethering features were unavailable. Hacking could have gotten the job done though, but that would be too much trouble and more importantly would not make sense for this review.
Q: Should I upgrade/switch carries for the 3GS?

Ans: This is the biggest question on everyone’s lips. The question has so many factors so unfortunately the answer will depend on a few things. If you still have the original iPhone (not the 3G), the answer is obvious. You were due for an upgrade like yesterday, and I’m almost sure that most people who have the original iPhone have finished their contracts or about to finish them. So the answer is a no brainer, upgrade!

On the other hand, if you are a 3G owner you should consider your options before upgrading. If you are still stuck in a contract it might be in your best bet to just get the software upgrade and live happily ever after. The only major difference in the 3G and the 3GS is the speed and unless you are a heavy iPhone gamer, you probably won’t notice the one to two second difference in app load time. However I understand that AT&T is allowing existing customers to get a 3GS at the subsidized price, based on credit, contract length and a few other factors. This is individually based so your best bet would be to contact AT&T. As for other countries such as England (Vodofone), I have no idea.

If you are with another carrier this is even a tougher decision. If you happen to have Sprint and due for an upgrade in the near future, I would advise that you check out the Pre before jumping ship. It rivals the iPhone in many areas and beats it in some (namely multitasking). On the other hand if you are tied to T-Mobile, Verizon etc, and your contract is either expired or about to expire, you cannot go wrong with the new 3GS.

Please Note: The 3G is still available for purchase ($99 on contract). I would not advise trying to save an extra Benjamin in this area though as the performance boost and other hardware upgrades are well worth the extra $100.

Egypt gave themselves a strong chance of qualifying for the semi-final of the Confederations Cup with a surprising but largely merited victory over Italy, Egyptian Player Mohamed Homos scored the only goal, rising to meet a well-delivered corner to direct a header in off the far post in the minute 40 from the half time .

Despite not creating many clear-cut chances Egypt matched the Italians for work-rate and application.

Vincenzo Iaquinta struck the bar late on for Italy and Egypt keeper Essam El Hadari made a string of good saves.

Sad part of the story is... i lost the bet, and now i have to buy my friend... "beer", lol!!!

Mac Dock Makeover - Mac and iPhone Icon Pack

I am a big big fan of mac. So I decided to give my fellow mac lovers a few super cool sets of icons that will help you to give your dock a new cute look. Looking at the same icons day after day can get old. Trust me, I always change the look of my iPhone and MacBook Pro once a week! So i wanted to help my visitors give their mac docks a new wardrobe also!

First is Trashkrake by Vegrafik. It’s is neat little trashcan that has a green alien/squid looking creature in it when it is full (and when it’s empty, its…well, empty) =). I had never seen a trashcan icon like this before, so you know, I had to feature it. Free Loads of Hard Drive Space with TreeSize

My hard drive is 120GB in total. My computer is a couple years old, and 120GB was gigantic when I bought it. I never ever thought that I would be able use all that space.

And then, one day i got that fun-filed message saying,”You have less than 200MB available space on your hard drive. Please free some space, or your computer will begin to die a slow, painful, bitter death.” I paraphrase, but it’s not a fun message to read. And it was a shock to me because I wasn’t downloading tens of gigabytes of stuff, so where did all the space go?

One quick download later, I figured it out. TreeSize, a great and simple application, is the solution to all your storage issues. There’s a free version and a paid version, but for the basic purposes of getting rid of all the cra… I mean junk, on your computer, the free version is great.
Once you download the software and run it. It automatically scans your whole hard drive (and any other attached drive you choose), and then sorts the folders by how much space they’re taking up. It searches through hidden files and folders, system folders, literally everything on your hard drive, to give you a complete look at the size of every folder.
TreeSize also tells you how much space is being taken up by each folder, and which subfolder is the largest one. It doesn’t isolate a particular file, as the tree in the free version just doesn’t go down that far. But once you get to the offending folder, it’s usually pretty easy to figure out.

TreeSize can open a folder for you, or even delete it for you right from within the application. This is where the warning comes in: don’t delete things just because they take up tons of space. A quick Google/Bing for most folder names, particularly ones you don’t recognize, usually provides information on what a folder holds and whether or not you can afford to delete it.
The reason I love softwares like this is because most of the space on my hard drive isn’t devoted to music, or movies; it’s devoted to old system restores, leftover logs from applications that I don’t use anymore, and more useless files that happen to make their way onto my system. I don’t need them, I don’t notice they’re gone, and about ten minutes ago, I freed up over 16GB of space by deleting a few of them.

TreeSize can make your computer run faster, free up space for more music, documents, and fun things, and avoid the disastrous slow-down and crash of your hard drive as it constantly spins, looking for massive files you don’t need anyway.

WebSlug is website which provides you a free service to measure your web site’s loading time/speed. You can do this directly from any web browser like Opera, FireFox, IE, or Chrome, and you can also compare one site to another.

The way I would use WebSlug would be to test a website’s speed. Make some minor modifications (one at a time) and test the speed again. A very handy tool at your fingertips to troubleshoot with – all you need is a web browser and an internet connection. The web site has this little tidbit for you:

Webslug is just a way of identifying potential problems with your website’s performance. How to improve it is an exercise we’ll leave to you. With that being said a general rule is that about 80% of improvements can be made on the front end.

Let’s take a look at how WebSlug works and play with its Compare feature. To start, I will show you guys the single website speed test. It is located here: http://www.webslug.info/index/single. All you need to do is type in a full URL into the address box and hit the “Run test” button. Check it out:

So, my site took about 8 seconds to load. Now, I am going to compare it to another website. In this instance, I chose www.buzzvines.com , which is a much bigger site with a lot more dynamic content.
Yesss!!! Everything31.com beat buzzvines by 3.07 seconds.

With that, I decided to compare another set of sites - Google and Bing. Which search engine is faster?
Wow! Interesting! Bing beat Google by almost 0.3 seconds! That’s huge considering their page is a lot busier!

Twitter is basically a way of posting short messages on the Internet comparable to Text Messages(Sms) but publicly visible and permanent. It is also possible to follow people on twitter so that their messages get automatically displayed in follower's Twitter. That’s the basic concept of twitter which proved to be very popular. Today i will tell you five very useful twitter usersripts, which can be loaded into the web browser in various ways. Probably the most popular and straightforward way is to use the Greasemonkey extension for the Firefox web browser. However it is possible to add userscripts to Opera, Safari or the Google Chrome Browser as well. So read this post with OPEN EYES!

1. Nested Twitter Replies

Twitter users can post replies to messages which are by default just displayed like any other message meaning that they are not grouped together. The Nested Twitter Replies userscript takes care of that by grouping the original message and the replies together.

2. Twitter Live Updater

The Twitter message pages do not get updated automatically which means that users need to refresh them manually to check for new messages. The Twitter Live Updater will refresh the Twitter pages automatically periodically.

3. Twitter2FB

Twitter2FB updates the Facebook status with the Twitter status.

Note: The userscript’s website lists hundreds of Twitter scripts that have been designed to change, add or modify functions and features on Twitter. They can really enhance the Twitter experience for users who regularly write and read messages.

4. Endless Tweets

As you know twitter displays a limited amount of messages per page. Users need to click every time they want to view additional messages. The Endless Tweets userscript will automatically load the next batch of messages when the user reaches the end of the page.

5. Twitter Trends Explained

Twitter trends are topics of public interest that are displayed in the right sidebar of the profile page. This covers a wide variety of topics from technology to politics and environment. There is no explanation on the topic by default which is changed by Twitter Trends Explained.

Avoid Apps Crashing in iPhone By Increasing Free Space

I think you would have noticed that sometimes when you are listening to music in your iPhone's iPod and at the same time trying to run some Apps or Games and your application or game got stopped working(in nerd's slang "crashed"). This has happened to me many times and i used to end up with restarting my iPhone, because as an iPhone user we are not given any guides or tools to know the reason why the Apps don't work always and generally we blame the App developers.

Here is the reason why these Apps crash up and how you can avoid 'em.

Whenever you run an App on your iPhone and close it, it is not really closed and it keep running in the background, and use your iPhone's memory resources. The iPhone comes with a 128Mb of total Runtime memory and don,t connect this with the storage memory which the handsets come in, normally amounting to 8Gb , 16Gb or 32Gb. Now all the applications and the Operating System has to process in the total 128Mb available which means that you can't run multiple applications at the same time because of limited memory resources.
Few built-in applications like the the iPod player, Phone application, Mail application and the Safari web browser etc. continiously run in the background even when closed and this is the main reason the iPhone users suffer from crashing applications. Now the only solution for this till date was restarting the handset in order to close all the processes running in the background, but i have got a better solution which is available in the form of a App.

Free Memory iPhone App – The Operating System does not allow Free Memory to kill any app directly. When Free Memory(app) frees up memory, the OS releases the memory Free Memory(app) requests. If it can't release the memory, apps are closed to free up the memory. In some instances, Mail or iPod remain running because they do not consume loads of memory. The App costs you 0.99$ and is not a free app, but i am very much happy after buying this application since i don't have to restart my iPhone again and again and waste another 5 minutes. Whenever i feel my iPhone is running slow. I just simply tap on the Free Memory App and click on Free Memory and done, and my iPhone run quicker without any crashes.
Some other advantages of using this App are that once you free up some of your iPhones memory the background running process are cleaned up and this inturn would save up your iPhones battery which means you can improve iPhone battery life and you can also check out the battery level in the same App.

American Prince Movie Released On Bittorrent

Note: A lot of movies are released exclusive to Bittorrent. The American Prince is the newest movie, or shall we call it documentary, that is exclusively distributed this way. What probably makes it even more interesting is the fact that it was produced by very well known director "Tommy Pallotta" who made great movies such as A Scanner Darkly in the past. Tommy decided that it was time to bring Scorcese’s lost documentary ‘American Boy’ back to life by creating this special film and distributing it on a channel that everyone in the world has access to.
Since the movie was never officially released Pallotta had to collect materials from other sources like Bittorrent or Youtube to get the film done. While he did get a master copy of the film from Steven Prince himself he discovered an even better copy on the Bittorrent network.

You can download the movie directly from Bittorrent. The torrent is linked at Mininova. The movie has a size of about 420 Megabytes. It is already listed on IMDB with a 9.1 rating although it probably will go down when more users start voting.

Froddle Pod is an iTunes alternative and it's absolutely free. It certainly is not as feature rich as iTunes but it provides access to the main features that an iPod owner needs. It can copy music and videos from and to an iPod which is definitely the main and must reguired feature that any iTunes alternative should support.

The software can also backup and restore all data that is stored on an iPod. Another nice feature is music normalization for all or selected music on the iPod.

It supports the following iPod models currently: iPod Nano (all), iPod Mini (all), iPod Classic (3rd to 6th generation). No support for the Apple iPhone or iPod Touch yet.

The software did check for and download the Microsoft Visual J# Distributable which takes up 80 Megabytes of space on the hard drive.

Cute Flash Games For Kids - Orisinal

Hey kid and kid's mom! Have you ever seen something so cute that you let that cockroach living under your sofa live a couple more weeks? Have you ever seen something so cute that your heart turned into something with the viscosity level of Gerber baby food? No? Oks,

Today I'll share something like that, something really cute, so let's get started. One of the few flash game websites that gets pretty darn close. So get ready, and read this post with open eyes.

Orisinal.com is a site started back in 2001 by a quirky guy named Ferry Halim, winning awards and acclaim for its simple yet addictive cute flash games. This website is the essence of simple, cute, fun, and relaxing to take your mind off your worries and put you at ease, at least for a while... So, let’s talk a bit about the games, shall we? Oksss!

Each of these little squares represents a separate cute flash game. Each flash game has its own custom composed music, controls, gameplay, and graphics.

Orisinal likes to use lots of cute and cuddly animals in its games, and the music is some of the best ambient and gentle music I have ever heard in my life. As for the gameplay, most if it requires that you have a mouse and are at least half awake, Lolz. Take probably its most famous game, for instance: Winter Bells (depicted below). As you move your mouse around the screen, the bunny follows. Once you click, the bunny jumps into the air. The goal is to jump on consecutive bells and go higher and higher, trying to not fall back onto the ground:

There are some other features on the site including linkback, guestbook, tell a friend, and an online store where you can purchase mugs, t-shirts, clocks (like the raccoon clock below), and other assortments of goods to make your abode a sunnier, happier place.
You can also arrange flowers in a vase of some sort and send it to someone’s email to brighten their day. Spending a couple of minutes on this site is like enjoying a cup of camomile tea!

So, when you have some free time, give this website a try. It’s main purpose is to have you spend 5 hours at work playing its cute flash games instead of working, then whistle your way back home. Who knows, you might even hug a co-worker or two. Let us know if this brightened up your day.

Get Updates From All Your Social Networks at One Place

OrSiSo is an Adobe AIR application, it is available for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. OrSiSo is a social network and chat-network aggregator, which currently supports Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Friendster, Flickr, AIM, Windows Live (MSN) Messenger and Yahoo Messenger.

The main idea of OrSiSo is to organize, keep track of and communicate with all your friends across all these networks. I certainly have been looking for a program which does just this.

Chat:- As an instant-messaging client, OrSiSo doesn’t offer many options, but does well as a chat client, especially with a combined buddy-list from all your networks. It’s worth noting that hyperlinks aren’t yet supported in the chat, I hope that this is fixed in a future release.

Pop-up Alerts:- Pop-up alerts are per network, and are treated like pages which you can flip through if you wish. Hyperlinks work here, and updates can be paused when you’re busy.

Photo albums:- Pics and Photo albums can be viewed from within the program; there’s no need to open a new browser window or tab. That is definitely a very very good feature.

Social Firewall:- The best and most unique features of OrSiSo are so-called the Social Craft and the Social Firewall. These settings let you organize your various “circles” of friends through drag-and-drop lists, and then customize which updates you see. In the example above, I’ve organized everyone into one of four circles, with the fourth circle reserved for persons from whom I don’t particularly care to hear from (I find myself regretting the mass-follow I did a couple months ago). You can filter received messages and updates by social circles just about anywhere in the program.

I’ve found it very user friendly adn easy to learn, use and is very well-rounded with features. Does it do the trick for you?

Mozilla Releases Firefox 3.0.11

The Mozilla team has released new version 3.0.11 of the Firefox. The release is currently distributed to all mirror sites but can already be downloaded from various download portals like Betanews or MajorGeeks. The update seems to be a security and stability update if the beta release notes can be trusted. Users are therefor encouraged to update the web browser as soon as possible to fix the security and stability issues that have been encountered in Firefox 3.0.10.

Stop Autostart Programs in Windows

Here is a quick tip that might come in handy in certain situations. Most users have at least some software programs in their system autostart. This means that these programs are started when the Windows operating system starts. Sometime these programs take so much time to load and piss you off so bad.

Some users might want to skip loading these autostart programs from time to time to save some time to be able to work on the computer. The following solution works only when running Windows XP operating systems. Microsoft seems to have disabled the option in Windows Vista (and most likely kept it that way in Windows 7 too).

To start Windows XP without any startup programs press the [Shift] key while the computer system is booting. The key has to be pressed as soon as the Windows desktop background appears. This will prevent startup programs from being loaded automatically. It might take you a few tries to get it to work.

Top 3 Sites to Find Song Lyrics Online

Yesss!!! Let me set the scene for you. You ere at a Bon Jovi concert and you’re lucky enough to be in the front row! The band starts up playing “Living On A Prayer” and the arena erupts with excitement. The whole crowd is belting out the lyrics when it comes time for the chorus. All together the crowd goes “WWWOOOOAAAH!” then Jon sticks the mic out for the crowd to join in and it happens to be in front of your face. You scream “We are almost there!” BBUUZZZ, what have you done? Wrong! The crowd dies down, the band stops and you realize that you have just killed the concert.

I’ve searched and scanned the World Wide Web to save you from ever having to encounter this and found the three best sites on the net for song lyrics. I evaluated them for a vast library of Pop, Oldies, Indie and everything in between. The sites need to be easy to navigate, the design should lend itself well to lyric browsing and the search function should be prominent without too many cheap ads & pop-ups getting in your way (let’s face it, they have to make money somehow).

So, here we go - counting down from number three to number one.

3 - MetroLyrics.com

In a huge leap forward, MetroLyrics stands heads and tails above LyricsPlanet. Upon visiting this site, you are presented with lots of valuable information about the music world. You are shown upcoming hot releases, the real current top hits and a nice and neat search bar.

One nice feature about their search is that you can type just the parts of lyrics that you remember and it will find you that song. (Similar to sites Lyrster and Lyricsfly) Remember that time you were humming a tune and wondered what on earth that was from? MetroLyrics can tell you.

Navigating the site was quite easy but the way the search results were presented threw me off a little bit. The results are presented with the Artist and Song Title highlighted on different sides of the column and then partial lyrics displayed below which confused me. All in all, I’d say they have a large selection, easy enough navigation, great search capability and some good features, like a handy iTunes plugin and a forum that distinguish it from the rest. It is worth your time to check out.

2 - LetsSingIt.com

LetsSingIt is where the lines start to blur between music discovery site and lyrics site which works extremely well. They have an extremely powerful search box prominent on the homepage that made it simple to find any song, artist or lyrics you’re looking for. I got creative and decided to look up MC Hammer on this site. Of course, I went for “You Can’t Touch This”.

As you’d expect I was presented with the correct lyrics for the song but LetsSingIt gives you so much more. There is an artist bio, discography, top songs, pictures, fan pages and the feature that really made the site stand out, a YouTube video of the song embedded in the page. These videos are embedded by the users of the site and are all correctable by other users in case one of the links dies. The video feature made it fun to read along with the lyrics while you rock out to you’re old pal, MC Hammer.

I was torn between the top two sites in this roundup. LetsSingIt fell to #2 due to their design. I think they tried to pack too much into their pages and it makes it seem cluttered. The information is great and visible but in the sidebars, you can get lost.

1 - Lyrics.com

If you’re looking for lyrics online, I say that there’s no better place to go besides Lyrics.com and with a domain name like that, they’d better be good. All of the features from the previous two sites are combined into one and then made even better by the folks at Lyrics. You are presented with a clean, impressive design with minimal ads.

There is great information such as new releases, top hits and most popular songs displayed right on the homepage. A powerful search bar resides on the top that allows you to search for lyrics, songs and artists. Results are displayed in a clean, easy to read way. There is a great community built around the music with many people for you to interact with.

Lyrics pages present you with not only the lyrics but also with a video to rock out to as you scream the lyrics at the top of your lungs. One feature that set this site apart was the dedication section. Those of you love birds out there will like this section to share meaningful songs with your special someone.

Out of all the sites I tried out for this round up, Lyrics.com really impressed me the most. It is certainly the best place on the internet to find any song lyrics.

My Last Post For Today!

I found these two icon sets today and thought they both displayed a really great show of artistic talent. So i figured i would help the creator of them get a little bit of free exposure for his hard work by featuring them both on Everything 3.1!

The first set has 6 cake icons, and is appropriately titled “sweets” and includes 6 beautiful colorful icons, incorporating brown, blue, and pink as the main colors. The second set is called “Latex” (we’ll let you figure that one out). Enjoy!

Folder Opens in a New Window Bug

Have you ever faced such problem that when you click on a drive, it opens in a new window. If yes then here is the solution(s).

Solution 1:
Cheack Browse folders option under Tools >> Folder Options in General if it is set to open folders in same window or it’s own window. If it is set to "open folders in same window" then you don't need to change anything, and if it is not then change it to "open folders in same window".

Solution 2:
Go to Start>> Run >> regedit and navigate to the follwing key.
HKLR/Directory/Shell and in the right hand pane change the default valus data as none.
Exit the registry editor.

Solution 3:
You can use this small utility ” Flash Disinfector“. Just download and run it from you computer. Please Note that before running ” Flash Disinfector” close all your programmes and windows. The screen may go blank for a moment while you are running this utility. But don’t worry, this is normal.

You may need to restart your system after going through the above process.
